Just yesterday, I was reading an article by a student who had thought that learning trigonometry was a waste of time---then he got a job doing high level computer programming where writing programs needed a solid knowledge of trigonometry in order to do the job.

  • Math is never never never a waste of time. It wouldn’t be so challenging if it weren’t worth while. The more challenging a skills is, the more an employer will value tbese skills in you because they are a rarity. Employers in business, computers, and all kinds of fields need people highly skilled in difficult types of math like trigonometry, calculus, and statistics.

    In fact, asking if math is important is like asking if breathing is important. Math has been involved in every act of human progress from the creation of the first computer programs and every program since then to the creation of nuclear weapons that help keep our country protected from threats of nuclear weapons.
